Now that I’m a college student, I have to make sure that I’m focusing on school. That doesn’t mean I don’t have time to have fun, but it means that my fun–especially blog related fun–can’t take as much time as it used to. So I’ve decided to start making some of my recipes dorm friendly!
These new dorm friendly recipes are a way for me to learn how to cook using very few tools and a way for me to bring recipes to other college students that may not have access to an oven or stovetop. To make sure this is easy for me–and for all of you–all so called “dorm friendly” recipes must:
1. be doable in under an hour
2. use five ingredients or fewer
3. use only a microwave, refrigerator and freezer
Not every post or video will be like this, because I do actually have access to a full kitchen, however badly equipped it may be.
Anyways, on to the food! These almond butter bites are perfect for before or after a weight-centered workout and super easy to make when you’re in a rush.
I literally did this whole thing in my floor lounge with a bowl, a small spoon and a microwave. If you’re a college student–or even just pressed for time–I highly suggest trying this out!
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil, softened
- ⅓ cup almond butter
- 1 to 1 ½ cups oat flour
- ½ cup chocolate chips
Stir together the coconut oil and the almond butter until smooth and combined. If your almond butter is thick, you might want to microwave it.
Add the cinnamon, then start to add the oat flour ¼ cup at a time. Once you reach the consistency you want, stop.
Add in the chocolate chips, then refrigerate the dough for around 10 minutes before rolling it into balls. Keep refrigerated until you’re ready to eat.
